I grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, where I later attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Classics and History. I went on to graduate cum laude from The University of Texas School of Law, where I received the President's Excellence Award and Scholarship and served as Senior Articles Editor on the Texas Environmental Law Journal.
After law school, I clerked at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for the Honorable Cathy Cochran, one of Texas's top criminal law jurists. I spent the next ten years serving the Texas judiciary in a variety of roles: as staff attorney for judges on both the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and the Third Court of Appeals in Austin; as special counsel for the Texas State Bar Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel; and as staff attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas's Judicial Commission on Mental Health, where I served as lead author and editor of the Texas Mental Health and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Law Bench Book.
I have drafted hundreds of appellate briefs and judicial opinions concerning nearly every legal domain, such as commercial disputes, family law, wills and estates, homeowners' associations, landlord-tenant, construction, attorney and judicial discipline, and criminal justice.
Most recently, inspired by my own young children, I co-founded Ellodee, a company dedicated to providing children quality audio media experiences. In addition to designing product and managing daily operations, I led my team's data privacy compliance and advocacy efforts, pushing lawmakers to better protect kids in digital spaces.
